Ramp |
Railroad terminal where containers are received or delivered and trains
loaded or discharged.

Received for Shipment Bill & Lading |
Can be issued on the carrier's actual receipt or taking custody of goods,
if requested goods are not yet necessarily loaded on board a vessel or other conveyance.
This form of Bill of Lading would usually be switched to an on board Bill of Lading or
added as an on board notation upon the actual loading of goods on board a
vessel or other conveyance.

Relay |
To transfer goods from one ship to another of the same ownership, more
frequently used as T/S (Transshipment).

Revenue Ton (RT) |
A ton on which the shipment is freighted. If cargo is rated as weight
or measure (W/M), whichever produces the highest revenue will be considered
the revenue ton. Weights are based on metric tons and measures are based on
cubic meters. RT = 1 MT or 1 CBM.

"Ro/Ro" |
A shortening of the term, "Roll On/Roll Off." A method of ocean cargo
service using a vessel with ramps which allows wheeled vehicles to be
loaded and discharged without cranes. Also refers to any specialized
vessel designed to carry Ro/Ro cargo.
